General information about test results
When you attend for a test of any kind, you will be told how long you should expect to wait for the results. This is a guideline and we ask that you wait this time before checking for your results.
Getting your test results
If your test results show that you need more tests or treatment, we will contact you.
Once a doctor has reviewed your test results, you can view them:
- in your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
- in your Patient Access account
- phone or visit us between 10am to 4pm and we will tell you what the results are.
- Via SMS if you request to do so in advance.
Questions about your results
If you want to talk to someone about your results please contact us over the phone or via the NHS App.
Please note that we have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. We will only give test results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for there release to another person.
Admin staff are unable to interpret results and usually they can only say whether results are ‘normal’ or whether you need to discuss it further with the clinical staff member. Sometimes the clinical staff member will have issued and left a prescription, e.g. if test results show an infection.
